Until you talk about a book that is a small rarity of gay culture, I present to you a symposium in love between two men on a beach. Maybe I'm the only one to see a great complicity and almost a tenderness, but this picture I caught the eye in reading my weekly Gazette Drouot :
The painter is
Chantron Alexandre Jacques, born in Nantes, January 28, 1842 and died in 1918, a student of Bouguereau. A simple Google Image search will give you a glimpse of his talent for painting nude nymphs but sexless. By clicking here , you'll get a glimpse of his "talent". I would not make such reproduction on this site.
This table seems isolated in her work. Yet there is more truth in this scene of daily life in these insipid paintings of naked women. Far be it from me to draw hasty conclusions about the motives of the painter, but one feels more fun to paint, and perhaps more ....
For fans (just silver), this table is on sale in Paris March 30, 2010, by SVV Rossini. The description is Two bathers on the beach , oil on canvas, 37.5 x 55 cm (Lot No. 122). It will be seen Saturday, March 27 and Monday, March 29 at Drouot (Room Sales Rossini, 7 rue Rossini).
